American Institute of Architects Houston hosts The Woodlands Home Tour Saturday
The American Institute of Architects Houston is hosting The Woodlands Home Tour from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday with a special pre-home walking tour of the Town Center from 10 a.m. to noon, led by Robert Heineman, FAIA, vice president of Planning for The Woodlands Development Company.
Tickets are $20 per person or $10 to tour a single house. A single house ticket does not include the walking tour. Advanced tickets can be purchased online at https://aiahouston.org and at AIA Houston at 315 Capitol, Suite 120, Houston, TX 77002. Single house tickets are not available for presale. They can be purchased at any of the homes during tour hours.
Six homes in The Woodlands with distinct architectural designs will be open for touring from noon to 6 p.m. at The Waterway Lofts, the top corner unit overlooking Waterway Square, along The Woodlands Waterway in Town Center; 19 West Isle Place on the western shores of 200-acre Lake Woodlands; 91 Baronet Woods Court in the neighborhood of Garnet Bend in the Village of Sterling Ridge; 55 Chancery Place and 3 Chancery Place, bordering the Arnold Palmer Signature golf course, in the Village of Cochran’s Crossing; and 34 East Shore Drive in East Shore, the “Garden District” of The Woodlands Town Center, overlooking Lake Woodlands.
The two-hour walking tour of Town Center will begin at 10 a.m. at Cinemark Theatre at Market Street-The Woodlands. Heineman, who has been involved in the planning of The Woodlands since its inception, will take guests on a tour of Market Street; four-acre Town Green Park set along the banks of The Woodlands Waterway, which includes a children’s literary labyrinth with life-size characters of Aesop’s fables and sculpture; and an overlook onto Riva Row Park and Boathouse. The tour will feature a stroll along The Woodlands Waterway past The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion; The Woodlands Waterway Marriott Hotel & Conference Center; the mosaic panels under The Waterway Avenue bridge; The Fountains at Waterway Square featuring fountains choreographed to music and lights; adjacent retail/mixed use buildings along The Waterway; Anadarko expansion; 3 Waterway Square under construction; and the eastern terminus of The Waterway at The Woodlands Mall. The pre-home walking tour will conclude at Hubbell and Hudson Market on the corner of Waterway Avenue and Lake Robbins Drive. Guests can continue to The Waterway Lofts to begin the Home Tour.
A reception, sponsored by Houston Eye Associates, will be from 6-8 p.m. at The Woodlands Homefinder Center, located at 2000 Woodlands Parkway.
