CB&I Tri draws record number

This Saturday, May 4, will mark the 10th Anniversary of the CB&I Tri – The Woodlands Triathlon with a record number of athletes expected to participate.
More than 1,200 people, including nearly 500 Woodlands residents, will participate in the race that centers around Northshore Park, located 2505 Lake Woodlands Drive. The event, which sold out in a record 24 days, is produced by The Woodlands Township with title sponsor CB&I and will start at 6:45 a.m.
According to information from the township, the event will have a 500-meter open-water swim course, 15-mile bike course and 5-kilometer run course. Participants will race through The Woodlands, including the Town Center.
Road Closures
The event will force the closure of some roads and lanes around the community.
• Roads that will be closed include Lake Woodlands Drive from Lake Front Circle to New Trails. There will be detour signs for motorists to follow, or motorists can use alternate routes.
• Lake Woodlands Drive between Windward Cove and New Trails will be closed to through traffic, but open for local Windward Cove traffic.
Parking for spectators and participants will be along Lakeside Boulevard between Research Forest Drive and Lake Woodlands Drive.
Also available during the event will be cheer zones set up along the route. Those locations will be at Northshore Park from 7-11 a.m., Hewitt – Aon from 7-8:30 a.m., Panther Creek Shopping Center from 7-8:30 a.m., Sterling Ridge Shopping Center from 7:15-9 a.m. and Shadowbend Park from 7:30-9:30 a.m.
