Conroe ISD Offers Virtual First Semester for 2021-22 Students
Conroe ISD Superintendent Curtis Null made a breaking announcement on August 6th. In response to the recent boom in COVID-19 cases, Conroe ISD will offer a limited virtual program for pre-K through 6th-grade students who are not eligible for vaccinations.
This virtual program will not have state funding. Conroe ISD students who are in the program were accepted on an application basis. According to the district, this virtual program will run for one semester. All students enrolled in the virtual program will return to the classroom in the spring of 2022 for in-person classroom instruction.
The Texas State Legislature did not pass a bill to approve state funding for virtual school programs for the 2021-2022 school year. However, Superintendent Null believes CISD should continue to offer a virtual school option in light of the recent surge in COVID-19 cases.
Null has also encouraged the use of masks. He has also recognized that CISD may change these policies in the coming weeks pending fluctuations in COVID-19 cases.
