Find a Helper Delivers Groceries to Those in Need
Sofia Milosavljevic returned to The Woodlands from her studies in Baltimore due to COVID-19. A recent graduate of John Hopkins with a degree in Public Health, Milosavljevic saw a rising need in our community and wanted to help. She started Find A Helper, a volunteer-based grocery service in The Woodlands.
Find A Helper matches volunteers with at risk individuals who are unable to do shopping due to risk of severe COVID-19 symptoms. The response to Find A Helper shows the generous nature of people in The Woodlands who eagerly help strangers in need. This population includes seniors or individuals with underlying conditions.
Milosavljevic identifies potential volunteers by screening their social media handle and calls to explain safety procedures required for delivery. After pre-screening, she matches volunteers and clients. Clients can pay for groceries in advance or provide reimbursement following delivery.
Volunteers are responsible for their own gas, however the current service area is not broad at this time.
