"Friends" Event Planned For Market Street
Friends Fest is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 17, from 6-8 p.m. at shops throughout Market Street, and the response has been more than positive, officials said. The reaction has been outstanding. Highlights of the evening will include “Friends Trivia,” which will be held at Levure Bakery, and a “Friends”-inspired workout led by Lululemon instructors in their store. Lululemon will guide participants in various exercises while watching “Friends.”
If the character Monica cleans during an episode, it’s time to do push-ups. When character Joey says “How you doin?,” participants will owe 15 crunches. There will be two sessions — one from 6-6:45 p.m. and another from 7-7:45 p.m. — and participants are free to jump in or out at any time. In addition, many other themes will be included. Those themes include iconic scenes in the Central Perk coffee shop, character Phoebe Buffay playing “Smelly Cat,” and other recognizable motifs. Gonzalez noted that in one episode, characters Monica Geller, Rachel Greene and Phoebe try on wedding dresses, so Market Street will have a wedding-dress try-on station.
Among other photo opportunities, Market Street will set up its fountain to look like the scene from the opening credits of “Friends.” Other attractions include a “Friends” tattoo bar, a chance to try character Monica’s “Mockolate” chip cookies and more.
Tickets to Friends Fest are free but guests are encouraged to RSVP on the event website at https://friendsfestatmarketstreet.splashthat.com.
