COVID-19 caused many businesses to shut down and close in March of last year. Performing arts groups were one of the many groups and businesses that were put on indefinite hold. All in an instance, performer, director, and producer jobs ground to a halt.
Even when restrictions began lifting, local theater companies made a pledge to keep the social circles small, lowering the total attendance cap for shows and events. In mid-to-late 2020, The Owen Theatre in downtown Conroe only opened its doors at 50% capacity.
On March 2nd of this year, Governor Abbott lifted the mandate for masks, and the Owen Theatre was able to reopen at full capacity. On June 1st, the newly renovated Crighton Theatre will be opening as well. The local performing arts groups have announced an exciting upcoming season, with shows including “M.A.S.H., “Tarzan the Musical.” and “Matilda.”
Be sure to visit the Owen Theatre website and the Crighton Theatre website for their upcoming performance schedules.
