Texas A&M Forest Service will be conducting prescribed burning operations at the Jones State Forest this week on Tuesday, March 26 between the hours of 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Considered a standard forest management tool, the prescribed burning will take place as weather permits.
About 75 acres of predominately pine forests are expected to undergo prescribed burning. The affected area is south of F.M. 1488 and between SH 242 and I-45, east of The Woodlands Township and west of I-45.
Texas A&M Forest Service is notifying surrounding city and fire officials, as well as area residents and groups who frequent the forest, by email and posting notification signs in adjoining rights of way. Agency firefighters will be staged at the forest as a precautionary measure.
