St. Luke’s Performance Medicine Expansion and Renovation Complete
The new St. Luke’s Performance Medicine, an outpatient department of St. Luke’s The Woodlands Hospital, recently celebrated its multi-million dollar expansion and renovation.
St. Luke’s Performance Medicine is a technologically and clinically advanced physical rehabilitation and human performance testing and training facility with specialization in sports medicine, physical rehabilitation, sports performance assessment and training.
Located on the hospital campus in the Medical Arts Center III building at 17450 St. Luke’s Way, suite 350, the comprehensive center features the most advanced technology and equipment throughout 7,000 square feet. The department, formerly known as Tektonic Athletic Development and Rehabilitation, was moved to the new location for expansion and renovation of the center and renamed St. Luke’s Performance Medicine.
Reflecting the future of performance medicine, the new state-of-the-art facility provides training and performance assessment for elite athletes as well as patient physical rehabilitation following an injury, surgery, or neurological condition such as a stroke from a skilled team of performance medicine professionals. Concussion management, work rehabilitation and personal wellness programs are also offered.
The Human Performance Lab at St. Luke’s Performance Medicine houses one of the few Bod Pods in the greater Houston area. The Bod Pod provides highly accurate body composition analysis due to its unique air-displacement technology. The lab also utilizes VO2 Max with EKG equipment to measure an athlete's ability to consume and use oxygen effectively.
Debra F. Sukin, Senior Vice President of St. Luke’s Episcopal Health System, and CEO, St. Luke’s The Woodlands Hospital and St. Luke's Lakeside Hospital, said, “It is exciting to witness our vision of developing a center for sports and performance medicine in The Woodlands. St. Luke’s Performance Medicine will provide the highest quality care and best service in the region. We are excited to support not only our student athletes, but also our adult weekend warriors who remain active in our community. In addition, this center will support the growing service lines of St. Luke’s The Woodlands and St. Luke’s Lakeside Hospitals by offering complementary services such as cardiac rehabilitation, concussion management and neuro-physiological programs.”
