If you’re looking for a reason to leave the house in our 3-digit weather, we have one and it's only a 10-minute drive away from Harper's Preserve. It’s Tax-Free Weekend and we’re sending out some deals we see from the Woodlands Mall! It’ll be easy to stay indoors the entire time unless you’re craving a piece of cheesecake from The Cheesecake Factory. Unfortunately, we can’t help you out there. What we will do though, is give you the rundown of what you should know about the eligible items for tax exemption, and a round-up of some of this weekend’s deals at Harper’s Preserve’s favorite local shopping mall –

Eligible Items:

• Nonathletic clothing and footwear under $100
  • Tennis shoes and jogging suits qualify for the exemption
• Backpacks (including messenger bags and backpacks with wheels)
  • Up to 10 backpacks per seller
• School Supplies
  • Binders, Calculators, Crayons, Erasers, Folders, Legal Pads, Lunch Boxes, Markers, Notebooks, Paper (excluding printing paper), Pencils, Pens, Rulers, etc. For a full list of eligible school supplies, see the Texas Comptroller list

Information about Eligible Items on Special Purchases: 

• If purchasing school supplies on a business account, a exemption certificate is required.
  • A exemption certificate is a properly completed Form 01-339 (Texas Sales and Use Tax Exemption Certificate) that must be given to the seller.
