Houston Restaurant Weeks, the single largest fundraiser in the United States benefiting the largest food bank in America, returns August. 1 and runs through Labor Day, September. 5. Last year’s event raised a record breaking $1.9 million for the Houston Food Bank. Houston Restaurant Weeks has raised over $7.6 million for the Houston Food Bank. This has enabled the Food Bank to provide almost 23 million meals for Houstonians who are food insecure.

Spring resident Simone Biles said goodbye today to instructors and students at her family’s gymnastics facility as she prepares to head to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on July 26 to compete as part of the U.S. Olympic Women’s Gymnastics team. At least 46 of Biles’ family members from around the country plan to travel to Rio to watch the competition, said Adam Biles, Simone’s brother and general manager of the family-owned World Champions Centre gym on Birnham Woods Drive.

The Conroe Police Department relocated to its new headquarters July 21. The department and Conroe Municipal Court relocated to a 71,000-square-foot facility at 2300 Plantation Dr., Conroe. The facility offers improved technology for the department’s forensics team, improved dinning area, upgraded gym equipment and a larger space for the SWAT team. he municipal court was also given more space and new office equipment such as computers, printers and fax machines.

New Conroe Police Department open for business

The Hardy Toll Road will be completely closed beginning Friday, July 15 at noon through Monday, July 18 at 5 am. This will impact all northbound and southbound lanes and the airport connector. Once reopened on July 18th the Hardy will be EZ TAG only. For more information, visit here.
