The second annual Cleft Smiles 5K will be held at Fleming Park on Feb. 27. This walk raises awareness and funds for Operation Smile, which provides surgeries for those who are affected by cleft palate or cleft lip. The 5K will begin at 8 a.m. at Rob Fleming Park, located at 6055 Creekside Forest Dr. Registration is $35 for those 13 and up and $20 for children 12 and under. This Valentine's weekend, you can enjoy fun and romantic carriage rides around Market Street in The Woodlands. There are numerous packages available to enjoy including short rides, "short and sweet" rides, a "platinum package" and more. There will also be a "pony carriage" available just for kids to enjoy! Six Lone Star College students were recognized at the 23rd annual Chancellor's Breakfast at the Lone Star Community Building on Jan. 26. Each year, LSC students are invited to write an essay to the prompt, "how my Lone Star College experience has influenced my life," and campus committees decide winners prior to the event. One student from each Lone Star campus was selected and presented with the award.
