The 2013 Memorial Hermann IRONMAN Texas will be held Saturday, May 18, in The Woodlands.

Athletes will begin with a 2.4-mile swim in Lake Woodlands. The 112-mile bike course takes participants west through the scenic, rolling farmland of east Texas. The day ends with a 26.2-mile run taking place entirely within The Woodlands and concluding with a spectacular finish on Waterway Ave.

The pro start is set for 6:50 a.m. with a 7 a.m. start for age groups.

This Saturday, May 4, will mark the 10th Anniversary of the CB&I Tri – The Woodlands Triathlon with a record number of athletes expected to participate.

More than 1,200 people, including nearly 500 Woodlands residents, will participate in the race that centers around Northshore Park, located 2505 Lake Woodlands Drive. The event, which sold out in a record 24 days, is produced by The Woodlands Township with title sponsor CB&I and will start at 6:45 a.m.



A high school football accident helped set the stage for a boy raised in a Cut and Shoot trailer to become a rising star in the world of international opera – and he’s back in Texas to show off his talents.

Michael Mayes, a 1994 graduate of Conroe High School, has the lead in the Ft. Worth Opera production of “Gloried Denied” – the fact-based story of Col. Jim Thompson, America’s longest-held prisoner of war.

“Thompson was held captive in Vietnam for more than nine years,” said Mayes. “This is a very compelling, gritty storyline – it’s a real tragedy.”

Harper's Preserve hosted the second, complimentary continuing education course for area Realtors in the 4 part education series.  Area Realtors enjoyed breakfast, lunch and a chance to win several door prizes compliments of the builders in Harper's Preserve – Darling Homes, Highland Homes, Plantation Homes and Brighton Homes.  Stay tuned for details about the course topic in May…

The Woodlands Children’s Museum is packing up its favorite art supplies and bringing them to The Woodlands Waterway. There’s a whole weekend of fun coming up on Saturday April 13th and Sunday April 14th between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. each day. Bring your kids out for a couple days of fun that will be filled with artistic activities. This event is hosted by The Woodlands Children’s Museum during The Woodlands Waterway Arts Festival; they will be there as a charity partner located at the Artopoly section of the festival.
