The Woodlands Celebration of Excellence gala has been scheduled for 6 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 6, at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott Hotel & Convention Center. The theme for the gala is “45 Years of Caring,” in honor of the 45 years of service Interfaith has provided to the community.

After months of renovation, Bear Branch Pool has officially re-opened this week in The Woodlands. Located at 5200 Research Forest Drive, Bear Branch Pool features a large shallow end with play structure, a body slide in the deep end and the return of the beloved Orca slide. Bear Branch Pool is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Sunday 1 to 6 p.m., and is closed on Wednesdays. Season pass holders can enjoy this pool along with an additional 13 other pools located throughout The Woodlands Township.

If your all-star is looking for a place to sharpen his or her pitch, then check this out! D-BAT The Woodlands is open at 27309 Spectrum Way, Oak Ridge North. The new 16,000-square-foot indoor facility will include four professional multiple speed baseball and softball pitching machines, cage rentals, state-of-the-art swing analysis and batting simulation at any of the MLB ballparks. Camps, clinics, birthday parties, professional training and private lessons will also be offered at the facility. 

Two Woodlands-area chefs made history last month during the annual Wine & Food Week. Area Executive Chef David Morris and Executive Pastry Chef Ryan Witcher of Robard’s Steakhouse made a clean sweep at the Wine Rendezvous Grand Tasting and Chef Showcase during Wine & Food Week in June. Morris was awarded The Waterford Crystal Chef of Chefs Trophy and a $5,000 cash prize while Witcher was honored with The Waterford Crystal Just Desserts Trophy and a $1,000 cash prize. In the event’s 14-year history, no single restaurant has won both awards in the same year.

The luxury Beverly Hills candy store is coming to Market Street. Sugarfina will open this summer in the former location of Armario De La Bella in Market Street, located at 9595 Six Pines Drive, Ste. 1150, The Woodlands. The candy boutique geared for adults offers a variety of alcohol-infused candies like Champagne Bears.
