Experts and exhibitors at the 11th annual Spring Home and Garden Show at The Woodlands will share new ideas and products that can both beautify and add value to your home.

The show will be held Saturday and Sunday, March 2 and 3 at the The Woodlands Waterway Marriott Hotel & Convention Center at1601 Lake Robbins Drive.

Tony Wood, president of Texwood Shows, Inc. and producer of the event, said this year’s show will have a lot to offer.

Greg Lawler’s Art Fair SourceBook (AFSB™),“the definitive guide to the best juried art and craft fairs in the U.S.”, has ranked The Woodlands Waterway Arts Festival #9 for fine art sales among the more than 600 art fairs in the U.S. for 2012. For fine craft sales, The Woodlands ranked #12. “It’s incredible that after only seven years, The Woodlands Waterway Arts Festival is one of the top fine art festivals in the country,” said Jenny Wright, festival director. “The Art Fair SourceBook is the ‘go to’ website for fine artists across the country, ranking the festivals by artists’ sales.

Nearly 600 students in the Conroe Independent School District put their engineering skills to the test Saturday afternoon at the annual SCI://TECH Junior High Engineering Design Competition at Moorhead Junior High School.

Hundreds of seventh- and eighth-graders pit their small, motorized vehicles in a race against the clock and each other. The group also included students from several private schools in The Woodlands.

The Woodlands and South Montgomery County continued to experience growth in 2012.

Population in The Woodlands grew by nearly 4,400 people while enrollment in Conroe ISD rose more than 3,100. Conroe ISD spokeswoman Lisa Meeks said the district’s enrollment increase was a trend in 2012 she expects to continue as Montgomery County grows. “Conroe ISD is one of the fastest growing districts in the state,” Meeks said. “With low tax rates, high achieving schools, and many career opportunities, people want to live in Montgomery County.”

Harper' Preserve residents have a new, convenient breakfast option right near home. The first Einstein Bros Bagels opened in The Woodlands on December 12 located on 242 in the old Taco Bueno building. An additional store has opened up in Conroe on 2121 W Davis Street, also in the old Taco Bueno location.

Einstein Bros Bagels offers a wide selection of bagels ranging from whole wheat to cinnamon sugar. They even have a variety of “gourmet topped” bagels which include spinach florentine and challah (a Jewish egg bread).
