The Conroe Independent School District has purchased acreage off Texas 242 for a future elementary school in Harper’s Preserve.
 
The 17.67-acre parcel  closed in January 2017 and is in the new East Village of the Harper's Preserve residential community, next door to the new Houston Methodist The Woodlands Hospital under construction off Interstate 45. Conroe ISD purchased the land from 242 LLC. The construction of the future K-6 elementary school off Texas 242 was part of Conroe ISD's $487 million bond on the Nov. 3,  2015 ballot.
 

Families of all ages are invited to experience another Family Day Out. The event, which takes place at Town Green Park in the Woodlands, will occur from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 21 and admission is free. The family event will include vendors, face painting, free samples and giveaways. Attendees will also have the opportunity to meet and greet with some of their favorite characters, including Cinderella and Tinker Bell. You can read more about the event here!

Following a less than stellar district opener, the Oak Ridge High School women’s basketball team defeated Montgomery with ease at the home game Tuesday evening. The 12-6A game began with an early lead by the Lady War Eagles as the Montgomery Lady Bears turned over the ball more than 30 times.

Residents of the Woodlands have just a few more chances to enjoy ice skating winter. Located at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion, the Ice Rink at The Woodlands Town Center is open only thru January 21. This family-friendly activity is located within a 21,000-square-foot faculity that includes the rink, a sound system, seating and concessions. The rink is open 3-9 p.m. Mon-Thurs, 3-11 p.m. Fridays, 10 a.m.-11 p.m. Saturdays and 12-7 p.m. on Sundays. You can read more about the Ice Rink here!

In celebration of the holiday season, The Woodlands Children’s Museum presents “The Mitten” by Jan Brett. The interactive production follows young Nicki who loses the white mittens his grandmother knitted him while playing in the snow. The family-friendly show is on Friday, December 30th from 11-11:30 a.m. The production will take place in the Storybook Theatre and the show is free with admission to the museum.
